Ss. Cyril and Methodius 1150th Anniversary
Year of Ss. Cyril and Methodius will be opened in Rome
Cardinal Dominik Duka, Archbishop of Prague and President of the Czech Bishops’ Conference, and Jan Graubner, Archbishop of Olomouc and President of the National Committee for the Preparation of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Jubilee, will open the “Jubilee Year of Ss. Cyril and Methodius” in Rome on May 25, 2012.
The Year of Confirmation
Has Begun
Apart from the beginning of Advent and of another Liturgical Year, Sunday, November 27, 2011 marks the beginning of the Year of Confirmation for the Czech Catholic Church - the second year of preparations for the 1150 years' jubilee of first Church mission to the Czech soil led by Ss. Cyril and Methodius.

Roman Catholics and Orthodox Anticipate Cyril and Methodius
On Wednesday, April 14, 2011, the Orthodox metropolitan of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, archbishop Christoph has visited the Roman Catholic archbishop Dominik Duka OP in preparation of the 1150th anniversary of the arrival of missionaries Ss. Cyril and Methodius to the then Great Moravian Empire.
83rd plenary assembly of the Czech Bishops’ Conference
On January 25 - 26, 2011 the 83rd plenary assembly of the Czech Bishops’ Conference will take place in Prague. The two-day event in the Augustine monastery at Malá Strana will be preceded by an ecumenical worship celebration in the church of the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren in Prague-Vinohrady on Monday, January 24, at 6.00 pm.
Czech National Pilgrimage to Rome ended
From November 9 to 11, 2010 Czech National Pilgrimage to Rome took place as a sign of gratitude to Pope Benedict XVI. for his visit of the Czech Republic in autumn last year (September 26-28, 2009). During the General Audience on November 10 Prague Archbishop and President of the Czech Bishops´ Conference Mons. Domink Duka OP invited the Holy Father to a short visit of Velehrad (pilgrimage site in the Czech Republic) for the 1150th anniversary of the arrival of Ss Cyril and Methodius to Great Moravia in 2013.
