The Latin American bishops' council has helped form 106 new youthful missionaries of 'lectio divina' – sacred reading of Scripture – for Mexico and Central America. CELAM's Pastoral Biblical Center for Latin America joined with the United Bible Societies in the project, which aims to form 10,000 such missionaries.Full text of the news in Czech: HERE.
Bogotá (CO): Inspiration came from Pope Benedict XVI and his letter for World Youth Day on this year's Palm Sunday: 'I urge you to become familiar with the Bible, and to have it at hand so that it can be your compass pointing out the road to follow.'
Supported by Cardinal Óscar Rodríguez Maradiaga, a second formation workshop of national leaders was held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on 17-20 November. National leaders from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua took part, as well as priests from the respective countries, who learnt about the project and support for the young missionaries in their countries.
