Papal Christmas Celebrations

The list of masses presided over by Pope Benedict XVI during the Christmas season.Full text of the news in Czech: HERE.

Vatican: During the Christmas season 2006, the Pope will preside over these services:

- On Sunday Dec 24 in the Vatican Basilica, the Holy Father will celebrate the mass on the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord.

- On Monday Dec 25 in the Vatican Basilica, Benedict XVI will preside over the mass on the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord and at noon from the central balcony of the Vatican Basilica, he will deliver his Christmas message and impart the 'Urbi et Orbi' blessing.

- On Sunday Dec 31 at 6 pm in the Vatican Basilica, the Holy Father will preside at first Vespers on the Solemnity of Mary Mother of God. Traditional 'Te Deum' hymn of thanksgiving for the passed year will be sung.

- On Monday Jan 1, 2007, at 10 am in the Vatican Basilica, the Pope will celebrate the mass on the Solemnity of Mary Mother of God and also commemorate the 40th World Day of Peace with the theme: 'The Human Person, the Heart of Peace.'

- On Saturday Jan 6 at 10 am in the Vatican Basilica, the Holy Father will preside over the mass on the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord.

- On Sunday Jan 7 at 10 am in the Sistine Chapel, Benedict XVI will celebrate the mass on the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord and impart the Sacrament of Baptism to a number of children.
