Vatican: Cardinal Bertone, a passionate fan of Juventus, said on Sunday 17 Dec: 'I do not preclude the possibility that the Vatican, in the future, could put together a football team of great value that could play on the same level as Roma, Inter Milan and Sampdoria.' His sentence was followed by many speculations if something like that is possible.
In a Monday interview Bertone refused the possibility of yellow-white dresses on the lawn: 'It is impossible and I have many other duties, not the Vatican football team. A hypothesis, spread so enthusiastically by media yesterday, cannot be realized.' At the same time Bertone underlined sport as a possibility to address youth: 'Church enters sport with her pastoral care. Think of the Italian Sport Centre, where sportsmen of all teams gather to develop in self-control, at their human, spiritual, and moral level.'
