Some 23 thousand people have attended today (5th July 2015) the mass in the Moravian place of pilgrimage Velehrad to celebrate the feast of Sts. Cyril and Methodius. They recalled some significant anniversaries here and prayed for current problems as well.

Reflection on current situation in the society, evaluation of past events, and presentation of planned activities: these were the crucial parts of the plenary meeting, attended by the members of the Czech Bishops’ Conference (CBC) in Velehrad on 3rd–4th July 2015. Bishops also celebrated the mass in a new church in Staré Město, presented a statement of the CBC and the leaders of the ecumenical council of churches on migrants, and introduced a new website that helps people to find a mass.
The annual meeting of press officers and spokespersons (June 17-20) and the annual meeting of the Secretaries General of the European Catholic Bishops' Conferences (June 18-21) were held this year partially jointly in Prague (Czech Republic), at the invitation of H. Ex. Mgr. Tomáš Holub, Secretary General of the Czech Catholic Bishops' Conference.
From Thursday, June 4th, to Sunday, June 7th, 2015, the annual meeting of the Eastern Catholic hierarchs of Europe is taking place this year in Prague. Almost fifty participants at the meeting, organised by the Council of European Episcopal Conferences (CCEE), will include Archbishop Cyril Vasiľ, secretary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches.
On Thursday 19th March 2015, Pope Francis appointed a new bishop for the diocese of České Budějovice – Msgr. Vlastimil Kročil.
On Saturday, 15th November 2014, a solemn mass took place at the cathedral of Sts. Vitus, Wenceslaus, and Adalbert in Prague to commemorate the work and legacy of St. Agnes of Bohemia, Czech princess canonized 25 years ago – just several days before the fall of the communist regime – and to express our gratitude for her canonization as well as for the gift of freedom. Presiding over the mass was Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican secretary of state and a legate of Pope Francis for this occasion.
Bishops of the Czech Republic together with representatives of religious orders gathered at their 99th plenary meeting on 13th–15th October 2014. The sessions took place in the Krkonoše Mountains and the participants also received a visit of Father Patrick Daly, secretary general of the COMECE.
