Dear brother archbishop,

allow me to express you in the name of Czech Bishops' Conference and all faithful the deepest condolence to the tragic consequences of the aircraft disaster, that stroke the Polish nation yesterday. This sad message reached us very shortly before the holly mass in the Prague cathedral during which the new Prague Archbishop Mons. Dominik Duka took over his new office. Accordingly the President of the Czech Republic as well as the new Prague archbishop expressed solidarity with Polish nation in their speeches. Prayers for the victims of the aircraft disaster, their relatives and the whole Polish nation followed spontaneously at holly masses in the whole Czech Republic. Allow me, dear brother, to insure you and all mourners of prayers and a number of holly masses that bishops and priests will offer on this intention also in oncoming days. If only God’s mercy and mother’s love of Virgin Mary, so much adored by the Polish nation, would relieve the immense pain and would fill with hope.

In the deep belief, that each pain can be transformed through the relation with the suffering of Our Lord.

Archbishop Jan Graubner
