President of the Czech Bishops´ Conference, Prague Archbishop, Dominik Duka in the name of all bishops of the Czech Republic sent a condolence letter to the Japanese ambassador in Prague, H.E. Mr. Chikahito Harada and to the President of the Catholic Bishops´ Conference of Japan in Tokyo, Msgr. Leo Jun Ikenaga, SI, in context of the tragedy that has stricken Japan.

Let me to express to you in person / His Imperial Majesty Akihito / all Japanese bishops, the Catholic faithful / and all inhabitants of Japan my sincere condolences regarding the tragedy that has stricken your country. With deep sorrow we pray for all affected, their families and friends. Caritas Czech Republic sent immediately a financial sum as a small expression of our support and announced public collection for citizens of the Czech Republic.
We know that amidst this large tragedy it is just a little symbol of our friendship and compassion. I assure you with my devotion also in the name of my brothers, all Catholic bishops of the Czech Republic, who are currently taking with me the spiritual exercises.
