The Czech Bishops’ Conference in cooperation with the “Karmelitánské nakladatelství” publishing house has recently released a book about the Catholic Church in the Czech Republic, offering to its readers updated information about the life of the Church in our country. The brochure has been released also in English.
Prague: “This brochure does not intend to convince its readers about the successes of the Church. It witnesses the Roman Catholic Church as a living institution,” says Cardinal Dominik Duka, president of the Czech Bishops’ Conference, in his preface to the book. He also states that in the newly published book, a reader is given information about the life and organizational structure of the Czech Catholic Church – information that continues in that what the so-called “White Book about the Church” started a few years ago.
The brochure offers contacts to individual dioceses as well as other information including their coat-of-arms and bishops, lists church movements and religious communities and congregations. Although the book dwells on the Catholic Church in the Czech Republic, it also mentions some basic data about the worldwide Church with the Pope Benedict XVI as its head.
The book has been released also in an English version. It is available via the distribution channels of the “Karmelitánské nakladatelství” or online via www.ikarmel.cz/kniha/The-Catholic-Church-in-the-Czech-Republic_101789.html.
