Stanislav Přibyl new Secretary General of the bishops’ conference
A new secretary general of the Czech Bishops’ Conference was elected on Apr. 19, 2016, during the conference’s 105th plenary that takes place in Hejnice, North Bohemia – Father Stanislav Přibyl, current vicar general of the Litoměřice diocese. He will start working at the conference’s secretariat on May 1 and take up his office on Oct. 1.

Tomáš Holub appointed new bishop of Plzeň
The apostolic nunciature in Prague released today, 12th February 2016, information about the appointment of a new bishop of the Plzeň diocese. Tomáš Holub, general secretary of the Czech Bishops’ Conference, will replace František Radkovský as the head of the diocese.

Bishops met in Prague at their 104th plenary
On Jan. 19–20, 2016, the 104th plenary meeting of diocesan bishops and representatives of religious orders from the Czech Republic took place in Prague. The working session of the Czech Bishops’ Conference was preceded with an ecumenical worship.

Caritas website accumulates offers of help for migrants
Refugees from countries afflicted by war are coming to Europe exhausted and bare-handed. For many Czechs who would like to help these migrants, the Caritas Czech Republic launched an electronic database where to offer help – accommodation, material support or volunteering.

Pilgrims recalled 1200 years since the birth of St. Methodius
Some 23 thousand people have attended today (5th July 2015) the mass in the Moravian place of pilgrimage Velehrad to celebrate the feast of Sts. Cyril and Methodius. They recalled some significant anniversaries here and prayed for current problems as well.

Bishops: We feel that solidarity is urgently needed
Reflection on current situation in the society, evaluation of past events, and presentation of planned activities: these were the crucial parts of the plenary meeting, attended by the members of the Czech Bishops’ Conference (CBC) in Velehrad on 3rd–4th July 2015. Bishops also celebrated the mass in a new church in Staré Město, presented a statement of the CBC and the leaders of the ecumenical council of churches on migrants, and introduced a new website that helps people to find a mass.
