H.E. Jan Graubner has been appointed as the new Archbishop of Prague

H.E. Archbishop Jan Graubner was born on 29 August 1948 in Brno. In 1968 he was admitted to the Major Seminary in Olomouc and was ordained a priest for that Archdiocese on 23 June 1973. From October 1973 to September 1975 he did his military service while simultaneously serving as Chaplain in Zlín. From 1977 to 1982 he was Chaplain in Valašské Klobouky, and in 1982 he was appointed Administrator of the Parish of Vizovice, where he remained until his episcopal appointment.
On 17 March 1990 he was appointed Titular Bishop of Tagaria and Auxiliary Bishop of Olomouc, receiving episcopal ordination on the following 7 April. On 28 September 1992 he was promoted to Metropolitan Archbishop of Olomouc.
Since 1991 he has been President of the Czech Catholic Charity.
Within the Czech Bishops' Conference he was President of the Charity Commission and Delegate for Missions. Since 2020 he has been President of the same Conference, having also been President from 2000 to 2010.
