Pope Francis asked Cardinal Duka to continue as Prague archbishop

In the seat of the Prague Archdiocese, a letter sent by the Apostolic Nunciature was received yesterday – an answer to the resignation letter of Prague archbishop Dominik Duka OP. The Pope asked him to continue in his office “donec aliter provideatur”. Below is the full text of the letter.

Prague, May 7, 2018

Your Eminence,

Upon reaching 75 years of age, on April 26 this year, you presented your resignation from the office of the Archbishop of Prague to the Holy Father, as requested by can. 401 §1 of the Code of Canon Law.

As being authorized to do so by the Congregation for Bishops, I have the honor to announce you that the Holy Father has accepted your resignation from the office of the Archbishop of Prague and asks you to continue in the office “donec aliter provideatur.
