On May 26 2022, on the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord, the Holy Father Francis appointed H.E. Mons. Pavel Konzbul, the current Auxiliary Bishop of Brno as the 14th Diocesan Bishop of Brno.

H.E. Jan Graubner has been appointed as the new Archbishop of Prague
On 3 May 2022 His Holiness Pope Francis appointed the current Archbishop of Olomouc and Metropolitan of Moravia, H.E. Jan Graubner as the 37th Archbishop of Prague, thus becoming the 25th Primate of the Czech Republic.

On Red Wednesday Nearly 100 Buildings Lit up Red in Czechia
On Wednesday, 25 November 2020, the Czech Republic brought awareness to people persecuted for their faith around the world, as part of the international initiative Red Wednesday. More than 60% of the persecuted live in countries which fail to respect a fundamental human right – freedom of religion. Every day, nearly 300 million faithful experience persecution, according to the papal organization Aid to the Church in Need. In addition to the Czech Republic, buildings were lit up red yesterday in several countries, including Great Britain, Canada and Slovakia.

Bishops elected new leaders of the episcopal conference
The bishops of the Czech Republic met in Olomouc on April 28, 2020, for the 122nd plenary meeting of the Czech Bishops’ Conference. The session lasted only one day and its participants abode by all the measures ordered by the Czech government to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The main point of their meeting was the election of the new conference’s leadership.

A red wave swept over the Czech Republic. Tens of events around the country commemorated people persecuted for their faith
More than 80 initiatives to support religious freedom took place in towns and communities around the Czech Republic as part of Red Wednesday (#RedWednesday) on November 27, 2019. Local churches, religious communities and other organizations, including the Prague local government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were all involved in the event. In the Czech Republic, the Red Wednesday international initiative is organized by the Czech Bishops' Conference (CBC), the Ecumenical Council of Churches (ECC) and the Federation of Jewish Communities (FJC).
